What type of files are "memo" files?

Hell all, someone is trying to recover deleted memo files. Can anyone here tell me which file type memo files would be please?

It was an APP named Memo which came with the phone
Okay, then we need more info. What phone is it? Manufacturer and model number, please.

You said that they're "trying to recover deleted memo files." Do you know -how- the files were deleted? For example, from within the app, or by using a file manager? This is very important.

It's a Samsung s7. The owner got an s10 and asked someone to transfer his files to the s10 but seems the guy did something wrong and the s7 was factory reset. I tried quite a few phone data recovery softwares but seems no software out there to recover files after a factory reset?

According to Google--and Android is their OS, so they should know!:

"Important: A factory reset erases all your data from your phone."

The whole point, well, ONE point, of factory resetting a device is to make its data vanish. For example, their 'remote wipe,' which factory resets your stolen phone when you initiate it [e.g., from a computer], keeps the thief from having access to your stuff. If it didn't truly offer that protection...there would be a lot of unhappy people, and probably a lot of lawsuits, too.

From scanning the search results you listed, it looked like they depended on backups. Or they claimed to do things Google says can't be done.

Makes sense. So what do all the various data recovery softwares do, only recover files which have been deleted so like if you should delete a text, doc or music file then it recovers those? If yes, is there like a time frame for those files to be recoverable?

If yes, is there like a time frame for those files to be recoverable?
Yes, but it's not a specific time. It's however long it takes for that area of storage to be overwritten by other data.

The thing to do in a case of mistakenly deleted files is to shut off the device as soon as possible. The storage area may have already been overwritten by then, but this will prevent it just in case, and will stop further writing. Then attempts can be made [from another device, like a computer] to retrieve the deleted files.

All of this assumes that various apps' 'recycle bins' have already been checked, to no avail.

Ok, got it thanks for the help. I now know why there are no local services which provide phone data recovery as the chances would be slim to none.

You're welcome.

After a factory reset, unfortunately, yes. But as noted, that's the point. Like if you're selling your phone, you factory reset it first, then you know the buyer can't dredge up your data.
