Hearings Aid

Android version of the ON App does not enable users to stream phone calls or audio directly from Android phones. Why this technology is not yet available on Android phones?

I used to had an iPhone, this technology is available on iPhone. I am so disappointed, Android look to me do not care about disable peoples (hearing problems)

You're referring to this I assume?

Well I think your question/gripe would be best addressed by the company that makes the thing
. Their contact details are at the bottom of the page. That's this company not caring and is restricting their technology, and is nothing to do with Android AFAICT.

I have a progressive hearing loss and have wearing hearing aid for about 30yrs. Started with mild hearing loss and certainly hearing is bordering profound. Although I recently ordered a pair Oticon from Ebay as a backup Im waiting on the ear moldings from my audiologist. Im currently using Starkey hearing aids have a bluetooth streamer accessory. I also thought, why is an extal accessory needed and to pair with my Android? My bluetooth headset cosr me about a hundred dollars and pairs with my cellphone easily. $4,500 hearing need an additional $250 part to do the same although it does offer an external mic. I never looked into exacty why but I did notice that the other companies did the same. My assumption is selling another part generate a higher profit. I have learned sometimes you just have to play the cards your dealt. It is an improvement of the older aids without Bluetooth capabilities.

I suffer hearing loss. Likely due to shooting / hunting without protection as a child and then working in a noisy industry my adult life.
I've put off supplementing my hearing until the day I can control them via my Android, stream tunes, answer calls, etc. I'm not desperate, fortunately, so I can wait until the technology is wide spread across multiple vendors and enjoy a more reasonable price and better product. I am surprised that it's taking forever for something that seems a natural to develop. I can't be the only potential consumer out there.

OK but just curious if there's a feature you find usable only on an iPhone, why did you switch to an Android phone?

'Please note
1. The ON App for Android will not enable you to use your hearing aids for direct audio streaming from your Android phone.
2. The ON App only works with Oticon Opn hearing aids'

I didn't know I will have a problem with android. I switch because my wife has a Android. I going to switch back to iPhone for sure.

I think you're experiencing what's known as "vendor lock-in" or "proprietary lock-in". And AFAICT certain hearing aid manufacturers and Apple have formed a cartel, that's likely to ensure maximum profits for themselves.

Your choice of the word "cartel" is a perfect description my friend. I agree, its all about profit.

I suppose the hearing aid manufacuters and Apple are no different to the pharmaceutical conglomerates, that might form supply cartels to keep the prices of some their drugs, vaccines, and medicines high.

Problem is, users like the OP start howling, and blaming Android when their Samsung Galaxy, etc. doesn't offer full features and functionality with their "Designed for iPhone" hearing aids or whatever.

Unfortunate but true.

Reading this thread was the first I even knew that Bluetooth could be done without and extra accessory.

You might want to delete one of these identical posts. It makes you seem like you're not aware of the duplication.
