Help app error when accessing microSD files

Hi! I use a 64GB microSD as an expanded storage on my LG Stylo 4. Following the notification on the phone, I formatted the SD card to "portable storage". However, when apps tried to open microSD files, I got error messages such as "file is damaged" or " file is empty". But if I copy the same file to the internal drive, the apps can open all the fils just fine. Is there a way to fix the problem? Thank you!

Portable storage is for media file storage ONLY.

Expanded storage is for expanding your internal storage and is encrypted.

Try formatting your SD card using a PC (select FAT32) to see if the problem persists.
