Use Android 9 backup on Android 8 device?

I made a backup to my Google drive using a Motorola Moto G6 running Android 9. I want to use that backup to restore my information to a new LG Solo L423DL running Android 8.1.0.

I can see the backup on My Drive on the LG. How can I use it? I missed its application on the initial startup of the LG.

By 'missed' do you mean you saw it, but didn't do it, or it was not offered to you at all? If the former, I think simply resetting the phone should do the trick.

Since it's new, I'm guessing you don't have anything to worry about losing--but if you do (photos, maybe?), make sure you save them somewhere safe. Then proceed with a factory reset. To make sure that starts from scratch, log out of your Google account on the phone before proceeding.
