Save it to your device and set it as the contact picture manually.

Tried that, I download everything off the usuall goony app, tried it via cloud and still get the default contact icon.

Ah go to google photos > Set as contact image

Never mind, ask to see if she would text back her number to me, and yeah she did. I do not know why I waited for a really vast ammount of time.
