Help Bluettoth OK for calls, but not for music in my 2007 Audi

Hi I am a newbie in your forum.

I used to be able to make calls and also play Spotify music from my S9 over Bluetooth, in my 2007 Audi.

Since my Audi's MMI was recently updated at the dealer, the phone was automatically paired, but I can only make calls but cannot play music.

I've removed and reconnected Bluetooth connection from both ends, have reset the car Bluetooth to default settings and have tried various settings on the phone, such as various Bluetooth settings, the Samsung Smart things app settings etc etc.

Again, only calls, no music

Currently on my phone, in Settings/Connections/Bluetooth/Paired Devices, i see my Audi properly paired, but under 'Use For' I only find Calls and Contact access, nothing for music there.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the Audi update removed or disabled the Bluetooth media audio(music) feature. Why it would do that, no idea. But I think it's something your Audi dealer needs to look at, and rectify if they can. If it was their update that broke it, then they can fix it.
 
In your Bluetooth devices that your phone stored..there should be your Audi's one too..if you go inside that..there's settings..and the list of what's allowed..calls, music and so on..maybe you could do changes inside there..

If that doesn't work, and nighter Mike's suggestion..

Then there's a Bluetooth transmitter that you plug into the cigarette lighter..that works perfectly..I have one of those..it produces a beautiful sound and functionality
 
First THANK all of you guys for the prompt response, this certainly is a great forum! I was a Windows phone/Lumia fan for many years and since I got my S9 my life has changed!!!

OK, I suspect the MMI upgrade might not be the problem, because I am not sure if the music I was listening to was coming from my phone, or from my car's media player. The car came with it's own dedicated cable that connects it to my (now obsolete) iPod), here it is:

I asked the dealer if he can order a new dedicated Audi cable with a USB C plug so I could connect it with the Galaxy S9, however this is no solution because I will need to plug in the phone every time I get in the car. He was not able to suggest a solution except that my 12 year old car might not be compatible to plasy music as well from a new tech phone, because of limited Mega or Gigabyte capacity (whatever that means....). I mam located in Greece so I don't expect them to solve high-tech phone issues.

Xavier Black could you elaborate on the Bluetooth transmitter? Does it mean that my phone will connect both to my car for calls and to the transmitter for music? Again, how will the MMI 'receive' the music, if it is connected to my phone with it's Bluetooth? Sorry guys, all this is kind of "Greek to me' :)

So on that and going by the screen-shot you posted, it sounds like your 2007 Audi system has never supported BT Media Audio. Specifically the Bluetooth A2DP profile, that is for HQ stereo music streaming. Really the only fix for that is to buy a new head-unit, or use a third-party transmitter solution.

I've still got one of them in the drawer, a 60GB 5th generation iPod. Originally bought in 2007, same as your Audi. Thumbs down for Apple's proprietary connectors and tech, especially when they become obsolete. :thumbsdowndroid:
 
I MIGHT HAVE A SOLUTION!!!!!!!!

OK, a third party transmitter is probably the way to go. Now here is what i think:

My Audi is equipped with the factory installed Music Interface MEDIA IN option, because that is where my iPod is connected now with the iPod dedicated cable. It fully connects it to the Audi audio under the 'Media' Source and it brings up on the car screen the detailed iPod's music with playlists, etc

I found on line that I can buy a similar cable, that instead of the iPod plug, comes with micro USB male socket.

If I can find a Third Party Bluetooth transmitter that can connect to the Micro USB, then that might be it!!!!!

What do you guys think? Any suggestions for such a Bluetooth transmitter?????

In fact I just learned I paid $20 more else where that what it is in Amazon..oh well done times you lose some times you score..

Thanks Xavier! I see you have an FM transmitter and you are quite happy with it. I just ordered the Audi music interface plug, and I found one with the standard USB female end (not the micro).
So in my case I believe a USB transmitter that will plug right into it will do the job, I'm currently googling for it, but with so many out there I'm still at it..
