Help V10 Boot Loop

Yep....it happened.....grrrrrr

Tried the freezer, only accomplished getting past the LG splash screen to the Verizon splash screen. It was probably in about an hour, actually an accident but read somewhere where one user had it in that long and was successful in his goal.

I assume it had a 1-year warranty which would have expired in mid November. I don't stand to lose too much since I make use of the microSD card. It would be nice to be able to do a more recent SMS backup and to retrieve a Nova backup (can those be exported? can't remember).

Is there anything else that can be attempted with the LG boot loop? What are my options here? Is there any coming back from the boot loop or is the only hope to retrieve some stuff and get a new phone?

Thanks in advance!

The only solution is replacement of the motherboard. There are a bunch of quick-fixes on YouTube involving heating or cooling your handset, but they're all nonsense.

My beloved V10 went into the dreaded bootloop last week when my handset was just 2 months out of warranty. I dreaded going to visit LG in Hong Kong where I live, terrified to learn I had a brick, or the repair cost, but LG were awesome!

Despite being out of warranty, the delightful young lady said they would repair my handset free-of-charge. To add a cherry on top of the cake, she gave me a G3 loaner phone to use while my V10 was in the shop. Contact your local LG support because I suspect this is an international policy in regards to a known issue.

LG, I already love your products (smartphones, TVs, microwaves etc.), but the way you treated me so nicely ensures you have another loyal customer for life. Thank you, once again!

Thanks Uncle Vinny for replying!

Unfortunately I know of no physical LG location even remotely close to me so I was left with online LG support chat. What a waste of my time! It was quite obvious that they really don't want to help their customers that much. This rep definitely was not going to take care of me like your person in Hong Kong did for you.

I will going another route on this issue.

I know you might loose everything,But try a factory reset.
Master reset with hardware keys
A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIMcard or SD card.

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons on the back of the device.
  4. When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
  5. When "Factory data reset" appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  6. Press the Power button to confirm.
  7. When prompted to "Erase all user data and restore default settings," use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  8. Press the Power button to reset the device.

Thanks for that info @AMOCO

I did that and after selecting YES to Erase all data it goes rather quickly to the LG splash screen, but no confirmation that is completed a factory reset. Am I able to assume it did reset or does that mean it failed?

Nevermind on part of that above. It did take a few seconds (maybe 5 or so) to get to the splash screen.

So,are you able to use your device now or is it still jacked up?

It's still in the boot loop, but perhaps the reset worked and I can feel safe sending it in.

You won't be able to. Some of the V10's do that and can't be fixed. I repair phones and also buy them. If you still have the phone and would like to sell it I would buy it for the right price.

I also repair phones, and took on one of these v10 dumpsters for a photo album rescue. In the unlikely case people are still following the v10, the freezing/heating remedy is NOT nonsense. It does work, but it's not a permanent fix. I had to use a heat gun set to critical mass to get this thing to boot up lol....

It worked. But still can't believe LG is having motherboard issues after this long. I'd buy a ZTE before giving LG any more of my money! Junk.

See this, that is my solution !! Magnet!
Lg v10 solución bootlop!!! bootlop fix!! Funciona…:

This did not work for me because it just reboots and stays stuck on the LG logo splash screen for several hours and never get's to the main icon screen. Is there any resolution to this madness?
