Well, it was bound to happen. The TV activated my OK Google prompt and search for something strange. Can I change the OK Google prompt to be something other than OK Google so it doesn't get activated by TV commercials?

Which is surely all about brand protection: force you to use their brand name and remove the possibility of people triggering it with something Google might not want to be associated with (if we had this option and I actually used Assistant I know I'd trigger it with "Big Brother"...).I think you can only change it to "Hey Google".

The Google app is disabled on my phone, not just Assistant turned off. I don't want some smeggy search bar on my desktop, I don't want Assistant, so I decided that I didn't need the Google app.I hadn't thought about brand protection but you make avery good point. As far the option to use it, Google can turn Assignment on with or without our enabling it. Sometines I think its more like a
placebo toggle.

(And if they manage to remotely enable a disabled app I'll root the thing, remove every single Google app from it and delete my Google account. Not joking at all, that would be the end of Google for me).
Oh yes, I have an unlockable bootloader. This is the first phone I've not bothered rooting, but I'm not buying one where I don't have the option...
