Getting RCS to verify

Lurker
I have tried several times to verify the RCS app, Everytime it starts I get a verification code from Google, but no place to enter and the process seems to just timeout. Anyone see this and know of a solution?

Thx for the reply!

Verizon is the carrier, I tried all those support page steps that are applicable. Still not working.

Could this be Verizon specific?

Nope, this shouldn't be a Verizon issue. IIRC, Verizon currently only directly supports RCS on the Pixel 3; all other devices will be supported through Google's solution that they rolled out last week.

Just to be sure, you're receiving the verification text messages inside the Messages app?

Does the Chat features Status indicate "waiting for verification" or something to that effect?

Thx all for your replies, it is Verizon. They only supposed Galaxy at the moment on RCS.

I've had it since December on my Pixel 3 on Verizon, and that is using Verizon's RCS server.

Google's recent announcement is that they are bypassing the carriers and providing RCS directly (from Google's RCS server). It should work with any phone on any carrier as long as you're in the US and using Google's Messages app. Verizon doesn't get a say in it.

The "your carrier doesn't support this" message just indicates that your device hasn't yet been provisioned for access to Google's server - operative word being yet.

It should be available for you soon. Don't give up!

Yeah I keep checking Google Messages on my phone and I get the same message.

I have RCS in my stock texting app but I use Google Messages/Web function at work so it would be nice to not have to switch texting apps all the time
