Help VPN in OnePlus 7

For a couple of years, I used Avast Secureline VPN on an Honor 8. Recently purchased a OnePlus 7 and migrated everything to find that many apps (not all) don't know that I have an internet connection while Avast VPN is running. Hate to dump it, still have many months left on current subscription, any suggestions?

Personally I prefer the Turbo VPN app..It's works faster, simple interface, easy navigation, and not many commercial ads.

Yes, also, I cleared the storage and cache, uninstalled and re-installed, no luck. Apps that ran fine on an Honor 8 do not connect on a OnePlus 7. Other apps work fine, I'm at a loss.

I'm actualy on the hunt for a new VPN too. Too bad I missed Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. What did you settle for tho? Used PIA before, but I might try Surfshark. Cheaper and according to this review, good price-quality equivalent. Thinking about IPvanish too. Any suggestions?
