Water damaged phone speaker, please help!

Stupidly, yesterday I decided it would be a fantastic idea to bring my phone into the bathroom with me while I had a soak. I got a text message, and while replying, the very bottom of my phone went under water for like a second. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when I got a call today, the other person couldn't hear me. I don't have a clue about phones, and couldn't find anything about this problem, so it seems like most people aren't total idiots like me and take their phone into the bathroom with them... Any help would be really appreciated, thanks! :)

Hey alice!

Not sure, as it seems you've had your phone on and it's been working. Here are some steps (for if you get your phone wet)... I don't know how well this will work, given that it's been a while and you've used your phone...

1. Remove the battery from the device (water and electricity are a bad combination)

2. Get a Ziplock bag or an air-tight container and fill it with dry rice (be sure its dry, LOL)

3. Place the phone in the bag or container and seal it up for a "while" (I've heard timeframes from 8 hours to multiple days--the longer the better in order to wick-away the moisture). You could also replace the dry rice to ensure that you are wicking away more moisture.

4. After you have dried-out the phone as best you can, re-insert the battery and try to start it up.

Hope this helps... let us know how you get on!!

Oh, wow! Sorry to hear that. We sometimes make wrong choices - and this is one of them. It happens. Anyway, I hope the above steps work in your favor. Best of luck. And thanks for joining the forum. ;)

I did basically the same thing last night and now I have to shout to be heard. Everything else works though. Any ideas?

I plugged in my charger and started playing high graphics games and the phone got heated. I don't know what happened but it worked.

Hi....i had the same problem. My speaker got muffled after water entered it. I played a music and held a small 'Silica Gel' packet (usually a small 'DO NOT EAT' packet found inside packages when you buy an electronic item) on top of the speaker....in about 5 mins, my speaker returned to normal....

Mine actually got soaked in the rain, and my speaker was really "damaged", to fix that, I removed the back cover of the phone, played some heavy bass music, took some earbuds and cleaned the speaker. this fixed it, and now its completely fine. Hope it works for you

In my case, i was video calling my friend and was teaching her how to make soup, i was showing how much water should be added and then the water got spilled on the lower part of my phone. What i did was so hilarious and easy. I turned on the music at high volume and inhaled at the spear creating a vaccum. I did this several times and after approximately 30 seconds of doing this, music got clear and it was back to normal

This has been the most helpful set of answers I've ever had the opportunity to come across. Thanks y'all for the support
