Help Cant download pics Google Messenger

Sometimes when I get a text using Google Messenger on Galaxy S9 with an attachment I cannot download or open the file unless I shut off Wi-Fi then it opens right up this is only every once in awhile. Any ideas why that might be happening?

Depending on your carrier, you may not be able to download multimedia content (MMS) over Wi-Fi.

Do these show up as MMS messages or Chat (RCS) messages?

I will have to check the next time it happens I have set up my phone for RCS yet I've never seen any change in the way texting works for me

RCS will need to be enabled on both ends in order for a conversation to use RCS/Chat features.
