Battery is really bad after Pie update

If the phone is operating correctly then the only things that should cause high standby drain is poor signal or a rogue app (not sleeping, polling frequently for updates, etc).

"Wakelocks", i.e. apps that prevent the phone sleeping, are certainly one of the things I'd be looking for, but the phone's built-in battery stats don't give you any real information on that. So at this point all I can suggest is trying a different battery monitor, e.g. GSam, and see whether it can give you more information (or maybe Wakelock Detector, if that still works on your phone and can do anything useful without root).

Hmmm. Well, I have been putting the phone in battery saver extended mode and that really helps with the battery. Overnight drain is like 5% or so. I will try Gsam and wakelock detector and see what it says.

I am now trying to figure out how to add a signature to my default text messenger. I have used chomp sms for years but I read that Android 9 or pie has a good default app so I started using it and I like that I can see if the person has seen my text or not and when they are typing and some other cool things that chomp can't do. I can't for the life of me figure out how to insert my signature though. It's nowhere under settings or advanced link & send. Is it not possible to add a signature?

If you can see whether the other person is typing that isn't SMS - it must be using RCS (and in fact you both must be, so that won't work with everyone).

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a default android 9 message app: each phone has whatever the manufacturer installed, and as I don't have the same phone I don't know what app you have (which may be a manufacturer's own app).

Yeah, after a little research I can see that the LGV30 on Verizon is different from the one on Metro PCS. The Verizon one has settings my phone does not. I might just redownload chomp as it has some features my default one does not. I still need to get around to figuring out what is causing my battery drain when not in battery saver mode.
