How to set Here maps as default

I am a new to android, using a Note10+. I want to use Here maps as my default. I have it set to default and have Google maps disabled. When I want directions from an app or website it opens google maps online and never Here maps. How can I have directions open in Here maps from another app or website?

That depends on why it isn't working.

Try going into Settings > Apps, finding Maps and checking whether it is set as the default app for any actions. If it is, clear that default and it should prompt you next time to ask what app you want to use. You can then choose a different app, and usually if once your preferred app is the first choice (i.e. it's what you used last time) you can also choose to make that the default.

In most cases that works, and it works on my phone for things like address links in my contacts. But you may encounter things which are hard-coded to open a particular app (a web link that's explicitly a Google URL would be something that may give you no choice, unless Here has told the operating system that it can handle those links).

Thank you Hadron. Here maps is set as default and the Google map app is disabled. It's like the OS refuses to recognize the Here app. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the Here maps. I'm using Bing for search. If I ask about a business etc I will see the address and map but when I click on directions there is a slight hesitation then Google.com/maps website opens with directions instead of Here maps. It's crazy.

If it's the website that may mean that the link is explicitly a Google url. Have you looked at the link itself?

I have discovered if I open an app, like gas buddy, and request directions to a location Here maps will open. However when on a website, even one that is showing a location on Bing maps, google.com/maps opens. Bing maps will start to open for a split second then google maps takes over. I can't figure out how to stop it from doing that. I am using Edge and Bing as my browser and search engine.

On my old phone, a wonderful windows phone, worked just like my pc. When I look up location on the web the default map program opens. My 4+ year old windows phone did so much more than this brand new Note 10+ does. It took better pictures too.
