Dark mode

anigelcook

Lurker
The last 2 nights around 8pm certain applications have gone dark mode. I don't know why. Instagram. Google search bar fir example
I'm on Android 9. Huawei p20 v9.1. I cannot see any settings for this

It did randomly a few months ago then stopped after a reboot

Each morning switches back to light mode.

Any ideas?

There is obviously a timed mide/theme somewhere in the system settings. Unfortunately I don't have a Huawei so can't say where it might be (it wasn't part of stock android 9, so must be a Huawei addition).

If only it were that simple. Have searched and searched and see no settings in v9. I'd understand if it was android 10

It could be outside System Settings, too, as I found out after receiving a replacement for my Moto Z² Force.

I searched System Settings for the one I had set on the previous phone; it would make the screen eyesight-friendlier at a time I specified. I couldn't find the damn thing!

Then a lightbulb moment: it's in one of Motorola's apps! :D

So, anigelcook, look through every app that's Huawei-related. You may find it there.

Ok good Idea. Thanks. Interesting. For two nights it switched to dark. Tonight it did not

There may be dark mode settings in developer options. Im not familiar with your specific device. Most devices Im familiar with, to go to "about phone" and look for build number then tap it 5 to 7 times in rapid concession. Next go back into settings and look for a new setting called "developer options" and look for theme ,dark mode, or night mode. There is also an app that provides dark mode if you phone does not provide that option. I have a Galaxy Note 4 on 6.0 MM and I have dark mode with this app. Heres the link

This dark mode app helps darken some apps that I can't with the other dark mode apps.
I'll be glad when I can rely on one to do it all

It works for Dark Mode PS on my device but I do not have Instagram installed so I can't confirm if it works on that app. Sorry to hear you were not pleased with this app. It does have a 4 2 rating on the PS so I assume it must work for many other devices. I do know it does not provide dark theme on the Gmail app. For that I use Team BlackOut and extract/port .zips to system/priv-app or system/app. I then set the proper permissions or I use an Xposed module (root required) You could try developer options and look for theme or Dark mode. What other dark mode app are you using and does it work without root? Does using two datk mode apps cause gliches with your device? Previously, I used a Night mode app in the li k below but it did not work on my device without combining it with an Xposed model.

This is about Huawei Dark Mode here...
https://www.teamandroid.com/2018/06/14/enable-dark-mode-huawei-p20-pro/

I've got a Mate 10 with Android 9, EMUI 9.1, and this device doesn't have settings for Dark Mode.

Thanks. I've seen this previously but oddly once in the battery section on my p20 I do not have any options to darken interface colours.

Additionally the whole issue I have is the random nature of this. It happened for 2 days going dark. And now has stayed light again....wierd.

I'm sure must have something to do with despite being on emui 9.1 I don't have that battery options
For example. Feeling like missing updates albeit I have them all
