Yeh, check the SIM card, also try restarting the phone.

That is like giving vitamins to a cheap phone.
Not knocking them, I use them too.

As long as it works I wouldn't worry too much.
I have a device that I use on Wi-Fi only, and when I am downloading apps from an app store it tells me that Wi-Fi is disconnected.
Wi-Fi is all it has, there is no SIM- no cellular service- and the downloads proceed just fine.
