Help connected to hotspot but no internet :( help!

Old post
But simple solution
Turn off your mobile
Remove battery
Keep battery out for 1 to 3 minutes
Insert battery again
Turn on mobile
Done

I get working internet access after this.

It's Very easy and simple and quick.
If it had been working before it's easy to solve, the reason might be a change in the settings.( Go to the settings>>apps>>all apps) and search for settings in all apps( not the running apps and downloaded apps) and now go to the select the settings and select the clear data and then select force stop and clean all the apps that are running in the background.then restart the hotspot.thats it.i had this problem and solved it through this method.

hi - - I had same problem . . enabled WIFI hotspot on BLU android phone .. users would connect however no internet access..
Solution for me - in WIFI hotspot setting on phone - -I went into Bandwidth usage -> and unchecked " enable bandwidth throttling" and it worked ... so basically I disabled bandwidth usage. . .. . hope this helps someone

Hi ,guys .I had the same issue .
Some devices don't like 4G & can't operate .So change your phone to 3G only & you will be able to use your portable WiFi connection .

Hey
this is really weird,
first of all i got the Nexus 1, with stock 2.2 FRF91
my phone has an internet connection by itself (i always have the 3g icon and ability to browse the net at all times - both with or without the hotspot on).
i also have a laptop running win7 32bit which connects to my wireless router with no problem.
i tried setting up wifi hotspot on my nexus (both opened and secured - same result)
then connecting with my laptop, it connects fine but then win says it has no internet connection (also when opening the "network and sharing center" it shows that the connection between the laptop and phone is ok, but phone-internet is broken).
also, im not sure if that is related, but i tried connecting the desktop computer (win7 32bit) with usb tethering. my desktop has the nexus drivers installed (i am using adb commands here and there with no problem)
again, it is connected and the pc is saying something about a "remote internet device" but no internet connection!

any ideas? i am actually interested in solving the wifi issue (i wouldnt mind solving the usb, but thats a secondary issue that perhaps is related).

thanks!

Hey everyone I just had the exact same problem and I've been sitting here trying everything you all said but I found a solution that just worked for me. On your PC go to your internet settings then to your network connections where it shows your PC connection to your device then right click and click properties then click configure on the networking column. Hope it works for you all.

This happened to me a couple days ago, I don't know if it was a fluke or what but try this, while the laptop is connected to ur N1 through wireless hotspot, open ur WiFi hotspot settings on ur N1 then just open "configure WiFi hotspot" and then just hit save, you don't have to adjust any settings. When I did that my laptop all of a sudden connected properly and everything was all honky dory.

I was having the same problem the OP described on my S5 running MOAR v7. I tried most of the things mentioned int this thread without success before trying what Tendo87 described in his post. Success!! In my case, I changed a few settings in "configure WiFi hotspot" but was able to change them back after this fix. I've had this phone and this rom for a long time and this is the first time this has happened. I don't have a clue why now. It's also very odd that the above suggestion from 8 years ago would be the solution. I spent several hours searching and trying other things before I stumbled across this suggestion. I must have looked at the "configure WiFi hotspot" settings a dozen times looking for something that had changed. Nothing had. So, thanks Tendo87 if your still out there. Had to post this just for the off chance that it may help someone else with this very obscure problem.

Azafarus's reply works, for no internet access on laptop when hotspot is connected. When I "reset to default" the APN(access point name) in my mobile, it enabled the internet on the laptop finally. Go to the APN in your mobile setting and you'll find an option to "reset to default."

i think you misunderstood me, the problem occurs when i try setting up my phone as a hotspot to provide internet access for my laptop (for example).
it has nothing to do with my router (i simply pointed out that the laptop CAN gain internet access via my router and NOT via my nexus)

my laptop connects successfully to the phone which is set-up as a wireless hotspot, but has no internet access.

any ideas?
Expierment with this a while ago, if you had no interne acess, you might even try using some of your data in the meanwhile, try resetting your router, it should help clearing out the problem. It can drain your battery.

My phone is a dual sim one. When I swapped the two sims so that the sim using mobile data is placed in sim1, the wifi hotspot has internet access.
