after i accidentally restarted and updated my phone, my lock screen is no longer dimmed like before and is there a way to have the notifications when locked back?

like when my phone's off and i get a notif, my phone just shows the time, the icon of the app and "new notification"(i have private notifs on)

is there any way to have these back?

i'm op, i registered when i got home, still no replies/answers?

I Moved your post thread to the proper Device forum section, for better exposure, hopefully someone will help you out here.

What if you turn "private notifications" off? I don't have this phone so don't know what you had previously, but not showing the notification content on the lock screen seems a logical consequence of "private notifications" (I don't have an option of that name, but it sounds similar to the "only show sensitive content when unlocked" option on my Android 10 and seems to be doing the same thing - though mine also says when the new notification was posted).

As for the "dimming", I think that's probably just Android 10. My lockscreen image is slightly dimmed, but much less so than it used to be (I've tested by putting the same image on my screen then swapping between lockscreen and image viewer). Now personally I prefer this, because previously I always wondered what the point of choosing a lockscreen image was if it was going to look like it was stuck behind a semi-opaque grey layer, but I guess you can't please everyone. Unless your phone has a lockscreen option that my Pixel does not there's nothing you can do about this (just as there was no control in the previous version).

thx for the answer

you got my question wrong but it's fine,
before the update when i had my phone off and i had a notification, it would only show the time, a small icon of the app and there would be no lock screen image, which i prefer. but now it still has the time and no lock screen image, however the notification would be how a notification would look if you opened the phone. instead of a simple icon and notification description.

for the lockscreen, i prefer having a low brightness lockscreen cause i only check the lock screen for the time and if i missed any notifications, and i guess overall a lowkey experience of the lock screen, however if i can't really change the brightness there i can only edit the image itself

again thanks for the answer :)

If I set my phone to hide sensitive content on the lock screen I get an icon, the app name and the time, but nothing more. This is Android 10, and it sounds like what you want. Maybe try changing the options and changing them back (that sounds daft, but sometimes after a major version update that is what's needed).

For the lockscreen background all I can suggest is choosing a dark lockscreen wallpaper.

i think it's because i can't find "ambient display" in the settings anymore,

as for the lock screen, i read that it had something to do with face unlock before the update, having it on would increase lock screen brightness and having it off would have it dimmed, i had it off before and it might've broke with the update (just like how most of my apps broke after the update)

anyways, thanks again for the response
