There is a new firmware update for the Aviator (FG04) that was released 8/14/12. I updated mine on my pc and did not lose any info. Note: Backup your contacts to the SD card just in case.

Noticed any differences? Did it mention what was updated?

I updated to it tried to root it but i didn't do something right so i downgraded back to FD02 and rooted (forgot to put USB Debugging on). If anyone can confirm root with FG04 i may consider upgrading. But i'll be going to the S3 hopefully soon.

I upgraded and rooted using the Team US Cellular method (flash the MD5 via Odin and then root via S1C). It worked fine. The phone seems a little bit snappier and more responsive than before. That may just be a placebo, or it may be from a more aggressive setting on Auto Killer Memory Optimizer.

At least it works. I've been having a few problems with this phone this past few days. Go Launcher won't open the app menu up unless i lock the phone and unlock or i turn it sideways. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. I also keep dropping 4g every once in awhile when i clearly have a good signal source.

Definitely worth doing the update and re-root. Phone seems a bit snappier, and it hasn't frozen or rebooted on its own since I did it.

I seem to be getting a bit better battery life, too. Not drastically better, but maybe an extra 10% or so.
