Anyone using Sweet Home! wifi picture backup?

This is the app I'm talking about. We've been using it for quite a while, at least 2 years, with no problems whatsoever. Then a about a month or so ago, after I upgraded my LG G4 to Marshmallow, it stopped working. Getting errors like this:

Connecting...
Authorization failed
:
Access is denied.20160421_1304328.jpg - FAILED (jcifs.smb.SmbAuthException: Access is denied.)

At first the "Authorization failed" message made me think my credentials were incorrect for the access to my home pc. However, I verified that the app can access it just fine, as it lets me browse the network shares and select the folder I want it to back up to, and when I tell the app to test the connection, it states it is connected. So then I determined the error is saying that it doesn't seem to have permission to access my photos.

So at first I thought this was a security problem with Marshmallow not allowing the app to access my SD card. However, I tested it with pictures on the internal storage, and get the same error.

Also, to rule out a problem with Marshmallow, I set it up on my old Galaxy S3, which I think is only running Jelly Bean, and it gets the same problems. So now it just seems the app is broken. I have installed the app fresh, actually on a new LG G4, as I just replaced my old one which was having Wifi problems. So it's the latest version of the app, on a brand new phone. And an old phone. Nothing works.

Anyone use this app, and can verify it is still working? Or ideas how to fix this?

I'm thinking the developer updated the app and with it, broke what was working. You may find an older apk out there, Google is your friend. Hopefully you can just revert back.

I just downloaded it, and it seems to be a decent app, but it can't find my PC on the network.
Even if I give it the name/IP

I may have other issues to resolve though.... but, for me, I don't like the idea of an app uploading every image that I take to a PC/other....

why? I take lots of extra shots to bracket something, you never know which shot is going to be best, then I like to delete the bad images off the phone.

Yeah there is a bit of a trick to get it to browse your files. I had to add the IP address, then add my credentials, then go into the add IP address field again, then it seems to show them. And I hear what you're saying, it can get annoying to have all the little things like shots of random things at the store or reminder shots or whatever ending up on my PC, but I don't really care. I'd rather have them all backed up than lose the ones I care about due to a card failure or something.

Did you try contacting the developer to see what they knew about the issue?

yeah I've emailed the developer a couple times. No response.

Yeah I think you're right. And I've searched for an older apk, and haven't been able to find one yet.

According to it's Play page the last time this app was updated was October 2014. Your troubles possibly might be Android related, or a likely issue is Microsoft updated something with SMB/CIFS or any networking function in this month's Patch Tuesday that's affected some authentication protocol the app relied on. The developer might have just moved on so maybe it's time to switch to an alternative?

I was using ES file explorer and had the same issue, come to find out it was Windows 10, which broke file sharing, so I had to revert back to Windows 8, and all good again.

I use ASUS File Manager, and select only the pix I want saved to the PC.
Uninstalled the Sweet Home, it kept bitching about not finding something it wanted.

For some manually picking and choosing what gets backed up may be suitable but for most people an automatic backup and syncing solution is a better option. Unfortunately it's not hard to find numerous postings here in the Forums made by those who lost irreplaceable photos and videos because they didn't have any backup/syncing solution implemented.

oh yes, that is a very common complaint.... far better to have them all backed up, than just 'some of them'
I am very diligent though, take a pix, immediately copy it to the HDD.

Just wanted to report in that this program Sweet Home! DOES still work, even on Android Pie. Found this thread as I was having the same exact issues as noted here, figured if anyone else is out there having this problem, they would like to know too. Did everything the OP noted, tested to see if it was a computer issue or an SD card issue. Two things I did. First, updated my router's software (there was a firmware update available, I just decided to check). However, I think that the main issue was my own fault, I had to uncheck the 'Enabled' box in the advanced settings section of the 'Upload Target' section. It notes 'Require extended security (password encryption+NTLMv2)'. I unchecked that and then boom, it started working! Odd thing is that NOW when I go back to that setting, BOTH the Enabled box and the box below that for 'Only NTLM based authorization' are checked. I have no idea why, and I did not check them back off. It is like the app just made an adjustment on its own or something. Either way, thought I would update this for the world.

If you have been a user of this app, you know how awesomely simple it is and how it fits an exact need better than anything else out there. It automatically runs a backup to a specified computer either when you first connect to the specified wi-fi network, or while also charging, or just lets you do it manually. The key piece for this is that it lets you set a time stamp, so if you update Android, or do a hard reset, whatever....it lets you tell it from what date to start from in your albums. So you are not re-uploading EVERYTHING again...and you do not need to worry about versions.

My Raspberry Pi crashed so I had to reinstall it. Now Sweet Home (Donate) no longer works. Here is what Sweet Home says:
jcifs.util.transport TransportException(?): Faliled to connect 0.0.0.0<00>

I suspect it's a problem with Raspian. :(
