Google servives and google Play not working

A lot of app are asking for Google play services to be installed. This is infact not installed, but I have the carrier services app installed. When I try to open Google Playstore it is asking to login, but this not working. When I press on the button to login nothing happens.

Please help.

So you should have set up your phone using a Google account when you 1st got it.
And you're saying there's no Google play store or Google services pre-installed?

No that is not what Iam saying. The phone is already in use for years. Google playstore and Google play services were installed and working. But suddenly apps like gmail , agenda ,and several others are asking for google play services. So I tried to fix it via Google play but I can't enter it. The button'" log in" gives no reply.

I had similar over many months on a Xiaomi/Poco.
Initially it was late for the Android 12 update and several months behind on Google Play Services and Security updates {it's a 2020 model).
I also had switched to a username instead of my name based Gmail address, and I would see the Google (apps) account Avatar top right had changed to my first name initial, instead of a P.

I'm travelling on public transport atm but I can try to remember what also helped. It continued to recur for months afterwards, but less so.
You may have a different issue.

I won't reply for a while but can you go to Apps - Google Play Services and clear cache, though I think clearing Cache and Data is not harmful but may not have helped.
Are the Google Play system update and Security update patches up to date or within 3 months?

Which Zenfone is it? 8, 9 or earlier?

Your Settings may term them differently.

Is it a Chinese version phone or tablet you've got there? Because that's something I've only seen on devices that come from China.

What device have you got, make, model, variant, and where did you buy it?

Sounds like a friiend's Xiaomi Note 10 Pro, he bought in Chongqing last year. It initially couldn't get any Google updates despite using a VPN.
