Help Is it possible to upgrade my operating system?

Android 4.4.2

In the Google Play Store I keep seeing messages about app x,y,or z not being available for my device.

Is it possible to upgrade my OS?

I've read here and there that security measures have to bypassed and that it takes 15 hours to put a new version of Android on a phone.

Is it possible to download an up to date copy of Android on my PC with a fast connection, then move it over to my phone?

Installing a different version of Android yourself requires putting whats called a custom ROM onto your phone/tablet. The custom ROM has to be made specifically for your device, unfortunately you can't simply download any version of Android.

First you'd have to root your phone, posts tagged for root in the Volt forum:

The two main advantages of rooting a phone are being able to put a custom ROM on the phone and the ability to install apps that require root.

Two downsides - there is a small chance you can brick the phone, and if it's newer you may void the warranty (wont apply to the Volt).

The root process is different for every phone, so follow instructions for your specific device. Here is more information about rooting:

This looks like the forum I want(?) This post is concerning operating system(s) for an Android phone. I have read up on Andronix O.S. From what I have read, it seems this O.S. is a good alternative to Android....especially to the "GO" editions????? Anyways, hoping there's someone who knows of this O.S. and is willing to share their opinion. Is this O.S. compatible to/ comparable w/ Android? This phone [SKY Elite P55Max] has Android 11 'GO" edition. Would it work on this phone? Also, I'd like to hear from anyone who is running an alternative O.S. and what they think of it. I want a de-goggled O.S. I'm not fond of the GO edtions of "driod" AND, I've already queried XDA. Hope to hear from you!! TNX
