Rename voice recorder files?

(Mods, I did take a look at the suggestions before I posted this query. Plenty of similar queries, but very little replies.)
I would like to rename voice files saved from the voice recorder. I'm allowed to save to SD, but would like to rename them, as the simple time and date stamp when recorded doesn't always say what's inside.
Would any of you smartphone afficionados care to assist this humble user?

While in the voice recorder app, tap List View. Then tap hold hold the file you want to rename. This brings up a menu and the third option down is Rename. Tap Rename and a box will pop-up where you can type in the name you want. After typing in the name you want tap OK.

I used to be able to do exactly how you explain.
however now when I press and hold the recording I want to rename all that I see at the top is the bin and the 3 dot triangle symbol for share
please help.
is where they are located the problem is. ON DEVICE or ON SD CARD

I just helped someone out with this problem. You can no longer rename while in the “recorder” app, for some reason, so instead you need to go to the “files” app. Select “audio” and then you should see all your unnamed files. There are 3 dots to the right of each file - if you press them, it should come up with several options, one of which is “rename”. I hope this helped!
