i use internet download manager to pull videos in my pc when 720 and 1080 p is selected i can download that video in MP4 format but my galaxy s refuses to play that MP4 file and funny part is when i convert that same video to MP4 in IMTOO video converter it plays why this happens??? resolution is same in both files and both are MP4's

Probably, encoder settings difference, which makes the phone difficult to play.
Open the downloaded file in MediaInfo text format and paste it here. We should then see the cause of the trouble.
By the way, try the 480p file playback. The quality should be the same on Galaxy S, but the file size will be smaller.

There are several methods: some use apps like the Internet Download Manger mentioned above, while others use websites that prepares Youtuble links for your download.
On Android, there was a an app before, but it was later removed from Market.
Just use Newpipe, you can download the video as Mp4 and no conversion needed
