No Wifi

I haven't been here in awhile because I haven't run into any problem with my phone since the last I was here which was months ago. My wife however has run into a problem with her Samsung A53 with ANDROID 14.

Up to yesterday everything was fine with it. In fact she was using it for most of the day with the home wifi. She started to play a game at around 5 or 6pm then all of a sudden she noticed that her wifi shut off, the connection disappeared. The wifi was still turned on, on the phone but it was thou the router was turned off but it was turned off because I was using the home wifi on my phone fine.

We decided to turn the router off and then on again. Again I could connect but when we turned the wifi off then on again on her phone the available networks didn't show the router or network name available. She rebooted her phone still nothing. I'm baffled as to why this happened. Any ideas or suggestions.

Ideas: not many. I assume that both the phone and the router support the standard 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, so if somehow the router was only using one of those and the phone was only using the other you could get this situation. But how you would get into that state I don't know, because you'd expect both devices to be using both bands. But you could install one of the many "WiFi analyzer" apps and use that to see what networks are visible to the phone in each band: it probably won't tell you anything that not seeing it in the WiFi settings doesn't, but if for some reason it showed the router while the WiFi settings didn't that might narrow things down a little.

Have you checked the router settings, to see whether it has remembers her phone as a known device? It should, so if it doesn't that would imply that something changed at the router rather than the phone. Does the phone remember your home WiFi as a known network? If you tell the phone to forget the network and try to reconnect from scratch does that work?

And the obvious one: can her phone see other WiFi networks?

As you can see, I don't have an answer here, just thinking about things I might try to investigate this.

I forgot to add because of other stressful things that are going on. That she had to do a reset on her phone. Before the reset she synched and backed up everything. When she went through the process of setting up the phone again, the phone asked for her router key and she entered it and it took and it looked like the problem was fixed but when she got to the point of updating the apps the phone couldn't see the network again. I was not with her so I don't know what she did. The play store would not let her update anything without a wifi I think that's stupid. She should be able to use mobile data for that provided to her by her internet/network provider no?

I can use the home wifi on my phone it works perfectly. Can I check what I need to check on my phone in regards to wifi settings correct for her?

It's not likely the play store preventing the site access. There is a setting in the phone that you can check to only dnld while on WiFi. It's a safety measure to insure that you have a solid transfer vehicle prior to starting a major dnld.

As for the router key. I would suggest forgetting that WiFi and then reboot the phone. Then check for available Wifi and plug in the access credentials.

The wifi issue has been fixed but now there's a new issue.

I helped her backup and sync her phone information to the Google and Samsung servers. Because of an issue of passwords and email IDs she had to create another android/Google account because of forgotten information. So when I went to the backup and restore options area it said that there was no info to restore and I'm like gimme a break. I backed up everything I could. Then realized it was backed using her previous Google account with a different email account.

All those txt messages and contacts some of which delt with a legal issue we have currently going on in court. There's gotta be a utility either through Google or Samsung that I can get to get that info back right?.
