Nova Launcher adding shortcuts to folders

Galaxy s23

Sorry to see Nova Launcher was having these problems Bummer news for Nova Launcher fans

Perhaps that explains some behavioral issues. It's next to impossible adding an item to an existing home page folder. I temporarily disabled the app to see if I could add to the folder, and then re-enable it, but when I did, the Item I added was not there.

I was wondering if there might be an app setting that, if altered, would render the folders more easily accessible, and also make home page buttons less sensitive/jumpy when trying to reposition them.

If not, what launcher would serve as a replacement?

I just want to know if there are any settings within the Nova Launcher app that can be adjusted to make the folders more accessible? and maybe something that could make the movement of these home buttons more manageable?

I've noticed that also. I initially thought that it was my jump in Android versions when I upgraded my phone.
The only thing that I found that will work is to try, try and try again until it gets added.

I set my folders up via the "drawer groups" settings - mainly because that allows me to put them on the desktop or in the dock with an icon of my choice, but it does mean I can edit their contents by opening the folder on the home page and using the 3 dot button to "select apps" (you can also drag the order around within the folder). It also allows you to nest folders within folders.

But assuming that you mean "ad hoc" folders you create by dragging apps on top of each other, I just tested that and found that while you couldn't pick and app from the app drawer and place it on top of the existing folder and have it join (it just sat on top of the folder), if I placed it elsewhere on the desktop I could then drag it into an existing folder. But that was on my phone, maybe it behaves differently on yours.

HI Hadron,

When you said "using the 3 dot button", I don't know if it jogged something in my memory, but realizing I don't have a "3 dot button" in the folder, I decided to "press" on an existing folder, and got this. I was able to add items and rename it.

Before I did so I spent about 10 minutes trying to create a folder the conventional way with no success.

After I transformed that existing folder, I still had two original items in there that did not fit the category, and moved them out, after which I was able to create a new folder with them, the conventional way, on the first try. Maddening!

Thanks

Resetting Nova Launcher Preferences: If you are experiencing strange behaviors like not being able to add items to a folder or icon responsiveness issues, trying to reset Nova Launcher preferences may resolve some bugs.
