E-Bikes

I spent this morning and most of the afternoon trying to mow my river property. The rain has created a mowing nightmare. I came home and we went out to an old haunt and had an old fashion hamburger and fries. So it was after dinner that I took my ride. I only rode two loops and a bit around town... 24 miles tonight. My back was hurting from mowing all day on a stand behind mower. I hope to recover and ride tomorrow before it gets hot. I saw nobody while riding tonight. :(

I rode early today and was home by noon. I saw only a couple of cyclists but a lot of walkers and joggers. It started out in the mid eighties but the humidity was out of sight. The heat index had it feeling like 100° at noon. I came in, cooled off, and then mowed my own yard. After dinner I decided to ride a few more miles. The heat index had fallen from 109° to 106° so I hoped I wouldn't get chilled. :) I only rode 25 miles this evening. It was just a wee bit hot. I logged 71 miles for the day.

I had a very busy day but managed to get a ride in after dinner. It was way hot and humid today but I did see a few cyclists out this morning while I was mowing. I saw a nice looking full size e-bike this afternoon. It had road tires and not fat tires but was a good looking bike that was being ridded by a teen. What I see most often are smaller bikes with a banana or saddle sort of seat that was popular when my kids were growing up. I know I'm old school with a full size bike but ... hey, I'm old. :) I only rode 30 miles tonight. When it's this hot, that's enough fun for me.

Yet another day of high temps and humidity. I got my work done and hung out at the house. I went riding after dinner. I rode 32 miles and put the bike up. I almost rode another loop. It was cooling off some and it wasn't terrible riding conditions. There was no wind and it was only 94° feeling like 100° when I got home. I don't care what they say... the evening sun as it is starting to set isn't as brutal as the midday sun no matter the temp. I had fun riding and saw a few walkers in town. I saw nobody riding or walking on the sidewalk South.

It was very hot today. I mowed half my lawns and then came home and cooled off. I finished up my mowing and took a shower thinking my fun in the sun was over for the day. However, the temperature was dropping slowly so I decided to ride after dinner. I rode just one loop and couldn't help but notice that it was getting dark back in the North. I stopped and looked at the radar.. it showed nothing but I got absolutely soaked the last time I consulted the radar. I decided I would just ride locally until it started raining and dash home. I rode 33 miles total and had only received very random raindrops. I put the bike up and came in just before the downpour began. It was a lot of fun riding tonight. When the front first crossed it dropped the temperature. I rode the last fifteen miles or more with the temperature in the seventies. Man it felt great!!!

I rode this morning. The grass was far too wet to mow until noon. I only rode 24 miles and the sky was looking like more rain was on the way. I put the bike up and jumped on the mowing detail. After mowing and eating a bit later than normal I went riding again. I logged 47 miles between the two rides. I wasn't the only person riding this morning. I saw at least eight other's enjoying the cooler weather. I only saw one other rider tonight.
My son's boss ordered two e-bikes today from PuckiPuppy. Their bike lineup all are named after different dog breeds. He order a GoldenR for himself... I assume the R is for Retriever. He bought a step through for his wife. Not a bad looking bike at a decent price. It has dual motors. Rear hub motor 960W and the front 640W. I'm interested to hear how that works and very interested to hear how it does with the battery which is only a 48v 20ah. I assume it can be jailbroke but as is max speed is 28mph which is street legal in most all states. A throttle assist up to 20mph. I assume it has a cadence sensor as most all e-bike but I see nothing about a torque sensor. The bike weighs twenty pound more than my bike at a whopping 93 pounds.
I don't know if that includes the battery. Right now the bike is on sale for $ 1,949.99
I'm always happy to hear someone is buying an e-bike.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in South Central Kansas. It was in the very low seventies in the morning and barely got into the eighties in the afternoon. I spent most of the day riding. I did see some riders out this morning which was cool. I rode 45 miles and came home and changed batteries. I rode another 43 miles before I put the bike up. It was a great day to be riding. The temperature was in the high seventies with little to no wind. The humidity remained high but it's pretty much not a big deal when you are riding and have the wind to equal things out. I logged 88 miles today and tomorrow's weather is to be very similar to today. I'm anxious to ride today!

I had to edit the above. I typed it last night and failed to post it.

Today was just a fantastic day. It was in the low sixties when I got up. I wanted until close to eleven before riding. I rode and then rode some more and then rode again after dinner. It warmed into the low eighties with no wind. The humidity was high but it really doesn't seem sticky when cycling. It was an amazing day. I logged 110 miles of pure fun today. I hope to do the same tomorrow. One has to enjoy exceptional weather when it happens.

Speaking of enjoying this unusual August weather.... I saw less cyclists today than yesterday. I figured being the weekend the sidewalk South would be slammed. Not so. I don't get it. I saw four riders today and maybe a half dozen joggers or walkers. I did see one e-bike this evening. The guy was riding in town. I saw a couple of e-scooters on the sidewalk and one young boy on the way to his fishing hole with his tackle box between his feet and pole leaning against the fork of his scooter. Pretty sparce crowd considering the day.

It's too nice and the forums too idle to be sitting and not riding. I'll have to dig out my colder kit to ride, however. It is only 68° with no wind. Rain is in the forecast for this afternoon so riding early makes good sense.

I did put on my warmer riding clothes and went riding this morning. It was a little cool my first loop and then the next two loops were perfect and the last was a bit too warm for my clothes.
I was out of battery so I came home and did some grocery shopping. It didn't look like rain so I decided I'd take a short ride. I had a basketball tournament final game on TV at three so I had to ride like the wind. After the game and dinner I went for another ride. It never rained and was ideal riding weather. I logged 110 miles today and had a blast. I saw three other riders today. One of them was the old lady on her trike. It's always good to see her. I don't know where all the other cyclists were this weekend. It saddens me that people stay inside when the weather begs to be enjoyed.

I rode after mowing today and then after dinner. I logged 78 miles with total miles since new 17,010. The miles speak well for the bike build. I'm still very happy with my purchase. I doubt many consumers put 17k on their bike in two years. I saw a number of walkers today but only a couple of cyclists. I saw the trike lady again and I saw an e-bike rider in town tonight. It was pretty warm and muggy today and being a week day I wasn't expecting much company. Especially after the miserable weekend turnout. I had fun.

I didn't get to ride until after dinner. I drained a battery with four loops and called it a night. It wasn't only hot and humid today, it was windy. It seemed pretty odd to have gusty South winds and humidity above 55%. It might have been the reason I saw nobody on the sidewalk South tonight. The only bike I saw was the e-bike I saw last night. It must be a new bike and rider. I guess the guy to be in his twenties and the bike is a lower profile bike with fat tires and no fenders. He was riding the bike in town basically where I saw him last night. I hope to catch him some time and say hi.

It was an unpleasant day weather wise. It was hot and steamy and with a stiff South wind. I went riding this afternoon and again after dinner. I met one cyclist on my first loop South. He was heading North and had the wind and downhill and was really moving. I only saw him that one time. I'm glad he basically had the sidewalk to himself at the speed he was going. I never saw any other riders. I met a couple on e-scooters tonight. It was the second time I have met them and the second time they refused to give me my half of the sidewalk. At least it was grassy where I was run off the path. Maybe they own that sidewalk.. :) I rode 68 hot miles today. It is supposed to be hotter tomorrow. Oh boy....

They were correct about the weather. It really was hot today. I came in from mowing and showered, took a look at the weather station, and decided not to ride until after dinner. Something about it feeling like 110° heavily weighed in on my decision. It had cooled off some by the time I was through with dinner so I went for a ride (felt like 104°). I drained one battery and put the bike up. I saw nobody riding or walking tonight while I rode 44 miles. I saw a couple of riders in town this morning while I was mowing. I saw my buddy Tim with his tricked out e-trike this morning. I haven't seen him in quite some time. I'm guessing he was going home and he rides early AM to escape the heat.

I had a appointment with my cardiologist this morning. He was wowed by my improvement and the 7K miles I've put on my bike since 2/28 when I last saw him. The riding is paying dividends!
I came home and went to the cabin and mowed that property. I then met a guy at my storage unit and sold him a portable table saw I had. Came home, fixed dinner, and then tried to ride some. It was extremely hot, humid, windy, miserable, and no fun. My back was hurting from mowing so I came home after just two loops. I hope to get out in the AM tomorrow and make up for being lazy today. It felt like 107° when I started riding and 101° when I returned.
