Possible xfinity/comcast scam

About a week ago somebody I know received an unexpected package. It was from them and contained a boxy device which is probably a modem or whatever it's called. He said he didn't order it. Now he got an envelope with a bill in it for almost $70. What's the deal?

Did he call them and ask? Seems like the obvious thing to do.

Might not be a scam at all, but most likely someone "swatted" your friend by giving them his name and address while ordering the modem /service...
Unfortunately this crap happens....
As Fox Mulder stated, have them call them to sort out the problem.
Trust no one....

It this day and age, it does seem more than a bit odd, to receive something and also receive a paper bill. I can't imagine any company trusting they would receive a payment after delivery. The gamble of online consuming falls on the buyer and not the seller. You buy... they ship. That doesn't explain exactly what is going on but the red flag has been raised. I would definitely be contacting the shipper immediately.
