how to attach picture to text message when no + nor paperclip appear

Option 1: Use the Gallery Portal

  • Open the Messages app and start a new message or open an existing thread.
  • Tap directly in the text input field.
  • Look for a small image icon or camera icon near the keyboard or toolbar.
  • If you see a Gallery or Photos option, tap it to select your image relic.
Option 2: Invoke the Photo from the Gallery Realm

  • Open your Gallery or Photos app.
  • Find the image you want to send.
  • Tap the Share icon (usually three dots connected by lines or a sideways V).
  • Choose Messages from the share options.
  • Select your recipient and send the photo directly.
Option 3: Long-Press Summoning

  • In some versions of Galaxy Messenger, long-pressing the text field may reveal hidden options like Insert image or Attach file.
  • If this works, select your image from the gallery.
Option 4: Use the Camera.

  • Tap the camera icon if visible to take a new photo and send it instantly.

Tapping in the input message field does nothing except put the cursor there. There is no "image icon" nor "camera icon". Doing it again only displays "Paste Select all Clipboard".

Have you tried doing it the other way round: open the image in your preferred gallery app and then tap the "share" icon, select your message app and then type the text to go with it?

But this does sound like you just have plain SMS going rather than MMS, so yes, check APN settings.

(MMS is a low-quality system for images. RCS, which the Samsung Messages app supports as well as Google Messages, would allow higher quality but needs to be enabled in the app's settings and will require that the recipient has it enabled as well. Third party internet-based message apps such as WhatsApp, Signal etc will also send at higher quality than MMS, but require the recipient to use the same app).

plain Samsung default SMS. How do I check APN? I know I've attached picture to text message a while ago but don't remember how I did it.

Just pressed on text rectangle and all icons shifted left and camera & picture icons showed up. Would have been nice if Samsung had noted that somewhere. Attached and sent pictures. Thank you everyone for trying to help me.

I don't know how to mark this thread "closed".
