What's the weather like where you are?

I hate it when the weather predictions are spot on. It's cold here or at least it seems cold. Currently it is in the low forties with a mid forties high predicted. The sky is overcast with a North 13 mph wind that is gusting into the miserable range. The saddest part of today's weather is it's one of the warmer days of the next ten. Hello... It's January.

It looks nice outside but it's only 41°. I was optimistic when I saw how warm it is already that we would have a very nice day. According to the forecast, 46° should be the high for today with lots of wind. Tomorrow the high is to be below the freezing mark. Ouch!

It was twenty degrees when I got up today and it's now a balmy twenty five. There is a North wind blowing and the sky is clear of clouds. A high of twenty eight is predicted. It's a great day to stay inside.

It's about 50⁰ here at the castle. Wind is blowing in the cooler temps for the predicted drop in temps for the next few days. Tomorrow, they're calling for a 60% chance of SNOW. But with a predicted high of 42 I don't expect much.

On a side note; I can remember a time, before all the computer algorithms, that the sweet spot for snow to start was about 39°.
Trying to anticipate the weather isn't as much fun these days as it was in the past.

Most all of the snows of my youth happened right around the freezing mark. It's too cold to snow was a common statement if the temperature was in the mid to lower twenties. It doesn't snow here much anymore and it often is only flurries with temps well below freezing. I got out and ran a couple of errands this morning and it had clouded up, the temperature dropped, and was lightly snowing. No accumulation and it was falling at 21°.

I can remember being in school and waiting for the temp to drop off to the magic 39° mark. If the clouds were right, that's when it would start.
Nowadays the weather apps have things tied down to minutes, it seems. If tomorrow was a school day I think that it would be cancelled already.

It was the not knowing and the forecasts were never accurate that kept a fun mystery about the weather... especially the winter weather. I was old enough to drive when my mother asked me to go to the dry cleaners to pick up some clothes she had there. The cleaners was only a few blocks from our home. It was snowing when I left and by the time I got the clothes it was a white out. There was a little burger place next to the cleaners and a guy ran out and asked me to take him home. I said yes and had to wait on him to shut off his cookers and lock up the place. By the time I dropped him off at his home It was nearly impossible to traverse the deep snow. I managed to get back to my addition but got stuck. I walked home and got a shovel and walked back to my car. Long story short, it took all day to dig and drive to get back home. It dumped almost two feet of snow in short time with a light to moderate snowfall prediction. Back in the good ol days when weather was any man's guess.

Not too bad ;):thumbsupdroid:

It warmed up more than predicted. If I wasn't nursing a shut down cold, I'd have gone riding. The thermometer topped out at 54.7 degrees with a single digit wind from the NW. Tomorrow is to reach thirty degrees and I hope for better.

It is currently 23° with a high of 31° predicted. It is overcast and there is a stiff ENE wind blowing that makes the temperature feel brutal. It is supposed to get above freezing tomorrow.
