there is no setting in the settings app

lots of people on play store are saying that the app is rubbish

think this is the same problem i am having

PLEASE FIX ALBUM SORTING! Mi Music is clean, easy to use, and my favorite player, but it consistently ignores track numbers, even with correct metadata. Songs in albums show out of order, which breaks the listening experience. Adding a “Sort by Track Number” option would make Mi Music fully enjoyable and competitive with other music apps.

I agree... I think the player is bush league at best. I only have one suggestion and I doubt it will gain anything. You might open the tag app and then your motown cd3 and place zeros in front of all of the single digit titles.... Instead of 1 Lets Get It On to 01 Lets Get It On. Might not gain a thing but it who knows without trying?

I think moving away from the player is the answer. Players are a dime a dozen and I'd try one and then another etc until I found something I liked. Uninstalling the trial players as I moved through players available.

okay will give it one more try with the tag app and change to 01

it won't change to 01 it will just stay at 1 so nothing is happening

think it's already set at 01

all of my albums are in 00 format so no idea

Advice from a google search

To get Mi Player (Xiaomi Mi Video) to play titles in sequence, ensure all desired files are in the same folder, open one file, and toggle the play mode icon to "List Loop" or "Sequential" (usually a cycle icon with a number or arrow). This allows the player to automatically move to the next file.
YouTube +2
  • Order Files: Ensure files are named numerically (e.g., 01.mp4, 02.mp4) for correct order.
  • Toggle Mode: During playback, tap the screen, select the menu (three dots or loop icon), and set it to List Loop to play all files in order.

okay it is set to loop i think but still playing in alphabetical order

that's okay i knew that the app wasn't working correctly anyway as other people have the same problem according to google play store reviews but I am using Musicolet until the app is fixed

I like Musicolet. Free and ad free app that does it's thing well and will do much more if you want it to. I don't know that it's the best player out there but it works for me. Maybe I just got tired of looking and quit looking after Musicolet. :)

I suggest that Mi Player is defective. When I tried it, all my albums showed alphabetical, and NOT the intended track order.
I did mention it previously in this thread, this is a common problem with many Chinese music player apps. And I think I know the reason. From what I've seen, most people in China just don't bother with albums when it comes to MP3s. They'll often have all their mandopop etc. MP3s in one folder, and may just make make playlists from them.

My Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon plays correctly in the many other players I've used, such as Foobar and VLC.

Mi Player has obviously failed here....and absolutely deserves an F grade.
