What Are The Risks Of Enabling "Usage Access" On Samsung S23

I have Malwarebytes installed on my Samsung cellphone. However, it won't turn on "Real Time Protection" unless I enable "Usage Access". What are the risks of doing that? What besides Malwarebytes could use that? Would that enable google to grab even more information from my phone?

you are only allowing that one thing to get usage access.

what that does is allows an app to read the statistics of your phone, ie. what apps you use, how you use them, how long you use them.

i have a few apps that i allow this, because some apps use this info in how they work.
Basically, the app does something for me, and normally this app has no internet access, so i am not paranoid.

on the other hand, i do not trust any security type apps because they get unusual rights and privleges to work

and it is a big questionmark if they really do work.

out of sheer paranoia and curiosity i will occasionally download and run Sophos, supposedly they have a 100% success rate against all the others- whatever that means.

i find nothing, and after a while i uninstall it again

what are you worried about that you are using Malwarebytes, if you dont mind me asking?

it needs useage access for real time protection because it needs to know what you open when you open it, so that it knows what to scan

that is my guess

if you got Malwarebytes from Google, you can bet your @$$ that they are collecting info
and because it is a security app, it will have full access to everything

hell, if you use Gboard, they can monitor your every keystroke in real time

and to think that we are surrounded by folks who just say "So?"

this is why it is so treacherous.

an app available on Google Play will be that app plus some Google anaylitics, ads, etc.

any and all of those and more if the the device has Google Play Services, Google whatever installed and running.

all of these are collecting and delivering your info about everything you do with the device and where you do it.

I run malwarebytes on all my computers as well as my cellphone. There isn't any way to install malwarebytes on a cellphone other than through google play, in contrast to on a computer where I download it directly from Malwarebytes site.

All it got me was three million trojans when I installed it on my windows 10 machine..
