We had some leftover game hens, stovetop dressing and black bean salad. The NYE get-together is off because my sister in-law has had the crud also, so the wife is making simple hamburger steaks with peppers, onions and mushrooms. Washed down with some good bourbon.

New Year's Day cornbread. My wife makes the absolute best crackling cornbread. Granted, it was my mom's and Grandma's recipe before her. Finding the proper cracklings is getting harder to do these days but when you finally find them, oh-boy.

Hey, I'm with you on not watching a zillion morons doing anything much less than watching a big crystal ball sliding down a pole. I do enjoy spending the evening with my wife, sister-in-law and her family while enjoying my favorite adult beverage.
