    RCS confusion

I checked that on my Android phones, that are Huawei Mate 10 on EE. Samsung Note 20 Ultra on China Unicom roaming in UK, NO RCS available. I don't usually use SMS or MMS anyway. I message friends and family by WhatsApp and WeChat.

    Ecosystems: Google vs Amazon

There's a third ecosystem I use for some things Android.....China, Inc. :thumbsupdroid: Mainly because Amazon isn't available here, and Google is banned(unless using a VPN). There's also FOSS(Free Open Source Software), which can have much to offer for many platforms, including Android.

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

The one thing I know about gaming mice, and other PC hardware that's designed for gaming, it must be as fugly as possible. This one is rather fugly, so it must be rather good for gaming.

Need to turn off HEIF in Android 13.

I'm sure a main reason why there's a reluctance to support newer image formats like WEBP, HEIC, HEIF, etc. is software patents, and the millions of $$$ that might have to be paid in licensing fees. Things like JPG, GIF, BMP, etc. their software patents have expired, and those formats are now...

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

Yeah, I know what PopStations are. Crappy cheapo LCD games. While Tiger's HitClips was a music thing intended for kids, that played part of one song in dreadful crunchy 8-bit quality. And was sold in the UK, circa 2000-2002. Techmoan made a video about them.

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

Well something like Dark Side Of The Moon or Animals I'd never want to listen to in shuffle mode. But on the other hand compilations and greatest hits type things, I often play those in random orders. Some albums like Rick Wakeman - Journey To The Centre Of The Earth or The Who - Tommy, that...

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

My favourite album seems to be messed with on Learjet Stereo-8. Moonchild is chopped in two, and The Court Of The Crimson King should be the final track.

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

The original 1973 Harvest 8-track release of Dark Side Of The Moon has three edited, split, and butchered tracks on it. And is a bit of a mess on 8-track IMO. They even faded, chopped, and mutilated Money, which is the beginning song on side-2 of the LP and cassette releases. Dark Side Of The...

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

According to Discogs, that's how many Pink Floyd 8-tracks were originally released in the US, on Columbia TC-8, including Wish You Were Here(1975), all with edited and split tracks. In the UK, they're were on EMI Harvest 8-tracks. I think many 8-tracks now have problems with foil splices coming...

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

OT: How about edited songs from the Michael Jackson Thriller album? Like P.Y.T.(Pretty Young Thing) faded early and chopped in half. As well as the song running order changed from the LP, cassette, and CD versions. NOT as the artist intended it to be listened to. 8-track could be notorious...

Blood Pressure and Heart monitors on smartphones in the United States

Yeah, it would have to be a smart-watch, and not a phone, i.e. a device that is been worn.

Blood Pressure and Heart monitors on smartphones in the United States

Huh? I've certainly never seen such a device, and I'm in China. Do you know of any specific examples? There's many smart-watches that have this functionality, that you can use with a phone. Those are available in the US AFAIK. There's also apps that can check heart rate, using just a...

Movies You *Won't* Watch Again ...

Yeah, that's what it is. A CGI'd chimera travesty of the original stage musical. I believe it bombed at the box-office, as apparently nobody else liked it either. Back in the 80s and 90s I saw several stage musicals with my mum in London's West End, because that's what she loved. Shows like...

A commentary on Galaxy S23 bloat

We're a bit old fashioned in that realm here, and radio is just analogue FM and AM. No HD, or DAB, or whatever digital. So for realtime traffic alerts accidents while out and about, it has to be via 4G or 5G. Of course one has to use whatever is available, depending on where you are

The Continued Downfall of American Healthcare

<trimmed> As I understand things in America, unless you've got medical insurance or can pay for the hospital fees by credit car or cash, it's good luck, and they might leave you dying in the street if you can't pay. Fortunately many other countries are not like that. I'm originally from the UK...
