Aside from the the dead battery surprise thing, they're more efficient than other UPS's as they don't run the inverter when on standby. While I understand the reasoning about keeping spare batteries on hand, if you don't keep them charged they will go bad just sitting around.

I have a couple of Cyberpowers, I like 'em but they don't tell you when their batteries are dead. You find out the hard way.

The plastic tab in the socket might be broken and floating around loose. If that is what happened the only fix is to replace the socket if that is even possible. If the socket is part of the main board in the phone and not separately replaceable then you're pretty much out of luck.

What phone, how old, stock or rooted? Malware usually goes after your data and personal information but doesn't crash the phone. Have you tried a hard reset (force power off by holding the power button until it shuts off then restart)?
