    I bought the phone from my sister...help.

    I already have T-Mobile so she sold me her G1 and now I have two questions. 1. Since I did not buy it directly from T-Mobile, am I still required to purchase the data plan? I'll only need the phone for calling and texting. 2. Does it cost to download free apps from the market? Thanks.
