    SOLVED I flashed CM11, enabled CM Recovery, then updated to Cm12.1 (latest nightly) through the CM Updater. I had tried this before without using the CM recovery with no luck, either the update would fail or my original issue would persist. Hurray! finally my personal device is fully operational...
