everything works fine until the end. my phone reboots, bootloads the PC10IMG.zip then gives me a Model ID...

I want to partition my sd card so i can install more apps on my Telus Milestone running 2.1update1, but every time i try it reboots my phone and does nothing. i even tried to make a rom backup and same thing happens, reboots phone. is there something im doing wrong? i set up the flash...
after i rooted my telus milestone with androot, my icons started diasappearing, tried shutting down and restarting, but they are still gone. then i took off androot and everything is normal again. is there a better way to root? i am running 2.1update1
