When updating apps via the Android Market my Desire S stops responding after a while and crashes. I have to remove the battery to get it working again. It doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't seem to depend on the number of apps that are updating. Any thoughts?

I've downloaded the 'compass' and 'Google Sky Map' applications and have found them to be rather jerky on my Desire S. In Google Sky Map the effect is particularly noticeable, with the map being very jumpy and unstable when moving the phone around. Could I have a faulty magnetometer? Or can...
