I have rooted Android devices before but guess i just never thought about this question. That is, do the build numbers have to be the same for rooting a particular device? In other words, if I find a root method online for the same device i have should the build #'s be the same?
@dynomot. I thought the 911 calls were handled on the control channel. I remember back around 2007 or 2008 if i removed my sim card there would be an "X" where the signal bars are supposed to be.

I noticed recently that even though I removed the SIM card from my LG Thrive the device still appears to be authenticating with cell towers. I deactivated my service from the provider about a month ago. What could be causing this? Thanks for any help.
Here's my situation, I use a Linux distro on a daily basis and i have a Hisense Sero 7 Pro tablet. My Sero 7 won't mount in Linux as it's MTP(Have yet to find a way to mount it) so i mount the tab using Windows 7.

I recently rooted my LG P506 using SuperOneClick 1.7. Everything is o.k. except when i try to uninstall the preinstalled AT&T bloatware I can't uninstall it(using RootExplorer).
I was told to use mount -o remount, rw-t yaffs2/system/system and adb push RootExplorer.apk to system/app...
Just rooted. My device using SuperOneclick and verified with Root Checker but when I try to delete some of the preloaded apps the uinstall button does not highlight.
I tried using SuperManager. Am i doing something wrong or is my root just a temp root?
