    no device specific forums anymore?

    @nickdalzell I think there's been a misunderstanding: I'm not suggesting maintaining the device-specific forums.

    no device specific forums anymore?

Why delete the device-specific forms? Why not just archive them and make them read-only? Anyway: Device-specific tags may be the better way to go.

What was Your First Android Device?

What was your first Android device? I'll start: My first Android device was a Kindle Fire (2nd Gen. or so), not long after Amazon first brought out the Kindle Fire line. The screen was small, not much bigger than my modern iPhone's screen. It didn't have a good desktop: Finding and launching...

Which Android device do you use?

Here's a thread I'm surprised we don't have already: Which Android device (or devices) do you use?

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

@ocnbrze Thanks for the video. After watching it: I don't know that the Kingston Expert Mouse quite qualifies as a gaming mouse. But it's close, and better in some ways! There's no mouse I'd rather use when playing video-games.

    Ecosystems: Google vs Amazon

To answer my own question: My family and I are much more in the Amazon than the Google ecosystem (though we do use Google Maps and the Google app store). We're not big fans of Google here. Even though I have an iPhone myself (alongside my two Android tablets): I avoid the Apple ecosystem...

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

It's been a long time since I've used my trackball, but I think you can adjust that speed. As for how sensitive it is: It uses a laser to detect when the ball moves (except in the early models from the 90s or so), if that answers your question.

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

Your thumb? This is not a mini-trackball! You don't use your thumb to move the ball, you use your palm. Edit: Or you move the ball with your fingers (that's what I did), which still leaves your thumb free to click the primary mouse button. Edit 2: Here's a picture of a hand on a Kensington...

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

You mean because it doesn't have more buttons?

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

Gaming mice are lightweight so you can move the mouse with minimal effort, right? In this case: You don't have to move the mouse, so the weight of the mouse doesn't matter. You roll the ball that's on the mouse, that's how you move the cursor!

What’s a good gaming mouse these days?

@ocnbrze In that case: I was using a "gaming mouse" before it was cool. I used a Kensington trackball with programmable buttons. And I don't mean one of those mini-trackballs you hold in your hand. I mean a full-sized trackball that stayed on your desk. Best mouse I ever used! Once I get my...

I think jhonywick's accusing me of lying about writing that myself. But whatever, got some Android security tips?

    Android Security Tips

@jhonywick Nope, not Chat GPT. I wrote this myself. But I've found Chat GPT to be quite intelligent and helpful, so I'll take it as a complement that you mistook my words for hers!

    Ecosystems: Google vs Amazon

Apple has an ecosystem for it's iPhone and other devices, but Android has an ecosystem too. Actually, Android had two competing ecosystems: Google's and Amazon's. Both companies have offer (for example) app stores, e-book stores, and television streaming services for Android. Do you folks have...

    Android Security Tips

This is a thread for Android users to share security tips with each-other. I'll start: #1: Use AdGuard, or another trustworthy system-wide ad-blocker (i.e. blocks ads in all apps, not just websites). Ads are a common source of malware and other security problems, so it's better just to block...

    Microsoft Surface Laptop Go

I'm sad to hear your computer broke. I have a Surface Go, which is much like the Surface Laptop Go, and I love it! It's both a laptop (with the keyboard attachment) and a tablet, and I run both Android and Windows on it. But then, I like my Surface because it is a tablet, I can hold it in my...

Best OS for the Note 3?

My 7th Gen. Kindle Fire runs Android 5, however, mine is getting security updates at least until the start of 2024. The Android 5 on your Note 3 probably isn't getting security updates, so I don't recommend using your Note unless you can get it onto a more modern system. But if you're going to...

    Ultra Mobile's PayGo Plan

Yes, if you get bad coverage on T-Mobile, then you'll get bad coverage on Ultra/Mint. That said, I'm suggesting the PayGo plan for backup phones. Spotty coverage is hardly ideal, but it's more tolerable on a backup phone than your main phone. Alternatively, you may want to use another carrier...

    Ultra Mobile's PayGo Plan

Ultra Mobile is Mint Mobile's former parent company, and I've found that Ultra's PayGo plan works very nicely for a backup phone! It's cheap, 5 USD (arguably 3 USD) per month.

Purchase S22 from AT&T or from another vendor?

A good salesman can be very helpful! Unfortunately, not all of them are good. Some of them are either incompetent, or they'll lie to you to make the sale.

    Cheap computer

Depends. Does this this computer's Chrome OS come with the Android subsystem? Then it's not just Chrome OS, it's also Android. That said, Android is a tablet system and not a desktop/laptop system! Unless this computer is a tablet, or at least something with a touchscreen, your friend may find...
