If you have T-mobile and a AAA membership, you can save 10-14% (it varies), by either:

  • calling 611 and having them transfer you, or

  • calling 1-877-AAA-7494, or

  • going to your local t-mo store.

Note that this doesn't work for the Even More Plus (non-contract) or prepaid.

There are also discounts for postal workers, university students, and probably lots of others
.

Only one discount will be applied, of course. It may take a couple of billing cycles before you start to see the discount, and they may change the date of your billing cycle.

I thought they stopped doing this. Did you confirm it still works? a tmobile rep told me last month no.

Two days ago, two different CSRs told me it was still active.

As with most call centers, everybody has a different idea of what is and isn't true/possible. Call back!

I'm trying to do the math.
since you must be in contract that means the price is higher 99? a mo for unlimited instead of 79?

so 12% of $2400 is $288 off the price equaling $2112 over two years or $88 a mo

79.99 for 24 mo is 1919 +529 for the nexus = $2448 for two years or $102 a mo

$330 cheaper over two years but you're stuck in contract. The advantage being if its your phone you can get a bare bones plan at any time or change plans to save money?

someone should check my math and plan knowledge im a dropout.

The math gets complicated because if you're not in contract, you can have the $10 data plan, instead of the $25 smartphone/android plan. But the $10 data plan doesn't give the same performance as the $25 plan (at least, the $10 plan is not as fast as I expected).

So there's no apples-to-apples comparison. But I think it's good for people who already opted for a contract to know that they can save a little bit if they are (or by becoming) a AAA member.

I don't believe the list is public. However, CC or any corporate store has access to it. AAA members have to call CC who will then transfer your to the right department to add the discount to your account. Most others can just go into the store with some sort of proof of membership/employment. Student ID, Company badge, business card, pay stub etc etc. It just needs to have your name and company on the same piece of official paper.

Good news as well, until now only the account holder could get a discount on their account. Now an authorized user with a discount can have it applied to an account to which they are listed. IE, if an authorized user has AAA and the account holder does not the account can still have the discount applied.

One other *very important* thing of note with the changes. Any discount applied to the account will refresh the contract on all lines for two years! Unless it is a non-contactable rate plan. No other exception.

Thanks so much for this tip! I just got off the phone with the migration department (if you call 611, they will give you the number, but it's 877-453-8824). According to the person who handled my request, the AAA discount just went up last week and is now 14% (in my case, starting at the end of February); there's also a rebate of $35 on the activation fee that is applied to the account immediately.

or if you work for RadioShack like me, you can also get the Tmobile employee plan. Works out pretty well. Not sure what other retail store would be able to get it too.

I'm confused.

1) So I call AAA (1-877-AAA-7494) to get a discount on my T-mobile contract?

2) Also, does this work on Family Plans?

Thanks!

Do you guys know if you can stack discounts?
I know college students can get a %15 discount and Universal Studios employees get a 10% and I happen to be a Universal employee. Think I would be able to get both?

The discount is nice -- if you get it. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I signed up for it on January 19. As of my current bill, it still had not appeared, so I called 611 to find out what the problem was. They told me that the discount had not been applied. Customer service had a record of my having called back in January, so they credited my account for the 14% for this month and then referred me to the number I gave above for "account migration." I went through the process of giving them my AAA number again; hopefully this time it will get correctly applied.

It's supposed to take 60 days to be effective, so I'll call customer service again next month to see if they'll take the 14% off my bill again while the permanent reduction is still in process.

Thanks for this wonderful piece of information. I am a AAA member and my T-Mo service is supposed to be live on the 25th (day after tomorrow). So do I call 877-AAA-7494 right after my phone went live on T-Mobile and ask for the 14% AAA discount on the service bills plus the $35 activation fee waiver(this is especially good since I hate paying the activation fee every damn time I get a new phone or switch carriers)? Let me know. I plan on calling that T Mo number as soon as service is active on my Samsung Vibrant on the 25th to get the 14% discount and the $35 activation fee waiver.

15% for gov't workers as well. This helps.

I called TMobile today to get the AAA discount and activation fee waiver and guess what...the discount is no longer active and AAA has cancelled their contract with TMo on the discounts so I was told 'You want AAA discount? NO SOUP FOR YOU'. This sucks.

Can someone confirm this information I was given is true? Mucho Thanks in advance.

I have 2 choices for my discount.

1. Military
2. Georgia Power/ Southern Co.

I am with the military one right now because it offers a better deal. Just ask about corp. discounts and see what you can get.

Raven, unfortunately I am neither with the military not have any ties to Georgia Power/Southern co. I suppose I could try my corporate discount, if they have one.

I have noticed most larger company's have a discount. I found that even my wife has one with the hospital she works for. Just ask, the worst they can say is No.
