Cases of cellular phone theft in the Philippines went up in 2009, based on figures released by the National Telecommunications Commission.
This is only those that are reported,some people don't even report their phones stolen because like the article said, it's useless which with my own experience is true.
In an article on August 2010, an average of 400 cell phones are stolen and the cops in the country are refusing to book cellphone theft cases stating they are not of serious nature

My phone was stolen, once at knife point and I always report. Nothing ever happens. That's why whenever I go out, I always bring a basic phone with me. My smartphone always stays at home.
