Help 100 % disk usage

Hello!

So I've been noticed for a while that my disk when I start the laptop and then for about 10 min it will make some noise and almost 100% on the task manager. I thought it could be related with something about fragmentation or erros on the disk and I've decided to format it. But it does not change anything and it still the same. Do you have any idea if this is a common thing or not?

Have a great day.

So long as you have plenty of free space on the disc that's nothing to worry about. During startup the OS is making lots and lots of I/O calls to the disc, so it slams it. Once everything is loaded and running it settles down.

I've decided to make this post because it doesn't happen when I bought the computer....

Two possibilities are that it's defragmenting the drive after boot and/or loading commonly used programs into RAM.

I think that is not related with RAM because I have 12GB of RAM. This is a doubt, even if I format the computer it will be fragmented and I need to defragment it?

What kind of noise is it making? A repeated click, click, click, click is it, associated with the 100% usage?

You do have all your data backed-up?

Over time every Windows computer becomes fragmented. I believe Vista and newer will automatically defreagment the hard drive unless you've changed the settings.

It just look like when you are running a cd and it is installing something you know what I mean? I am not using anything that could use the disk by 100%. Yes I have.
