2.1 vs 2.2 vs 3.2 Pro and Cons??

I'm the owner of a ZTE Racer from Three UK which I have unlocked rooted and installed a collection of interesting programs.
At the moment it's running Android 2.1 but I've been tempted for sometime to experiment with 2.2 or 2.3 due to the number of benefits such as BT/Wifi tethering and audio equaliser tweaks.
As I understand it there are no official updates for this handset all ROMs for downloading are unofficial and try at your own risk.
Also I've been reading comments from users such as: the screen is upside down, screen is stretched or cropped, the camera doesn't work, loading contacts crashes a certain system process, battery life sucks.

What I want to know are the pros and cons for installing unofficial 2.2 or 2.3 ROMs has anyone attempted this on a ZTE Racer and can confirm this to be bug free??

Would games like Angry Birds run faster and smoother using unofficial ROMs??

Will my battery life improve??

Does installing 2.2 or 2.3 fix the annoying audio glitch caused by switching from portrait to landscape screen mode??

Does the call and cancel call buttons become redundant using 2.2 or 2.3??

Also if I was unhappy and wanted to roll back would it be possible to reinstalled the originally shipped 2.1 ROMs??

btw: I have QtADB installed on my PC and the ZTE USB drivers to use the development mode if that helps.

(p.s. I made a typo in the title 3.2 = 2.3 could a mod please correct it, thanks)
