Help 2.3.6 firmware problem?

I just installed the 2.3.6 firmware update. Everything works fine but I can not pick up network coverage to place calls etc... Don' know if it matters but I am in the USA.

Any ideas what might be wrong? I put all my setting back in exactly as they were.

How did you upgrade? Via Odin or Kies ?

Few things to check, may be you forgot one of these

1) Did you wipe before installation?
2) Did you tick re-partition ?
3) Did you include a proper pit file ?
4) Are you absolute sure you ticked and added the modem file ? May be you forgot and still have old modem.

Try a re-flash or download firmware from different website. You can confirm your versions by dialing *#1234# from dialer.

did not do #1? how do I do that? didn't see that in the instructions.
