2.3 or 3.0 "gingerbread" d what to expect

I know everyone has been wondering what to expect from gingerbread. I want know if it is 2.3 or 3.0. Either way what do you guys expect (confirmed or not) and what you guys hope to see. A performance boost in my opinion is realy always a plus, and I really do hope they roll this update out alot faster than previous updates.

i beleive the UI is the main focus - Think I read somewhere that 3D Gallery is where they are going with it. I'd also be suprised if the Google Streaming Music service doesn't appear as Google and Apple are bothing trying to get these to market first.

UI overhaul is the main thing they will do (read it somewhere). Google Music, stuff like that. Not so much on the performance, as Froyo did all of those. Overall, gingerbread is a more polished in terms on UI over Froyo.

I'd like to see a future version include page filing a portion of the SD Card. I believe this would help on the Memory constricted devices.

The one big issue with 3.0 Gingerbread is that it needs a big processor, so 1.0 ghz or above. So right now thats the Desire,N1 and..... the Evo 4? Everyone else on 2.2 will have to stay there or get a new phone. (what a suprise!)

i just hope the new gui looks decent, or that they atleast give us an option to change between ui's, atleast back to stock if we dont like the new one.

i would also love if they opend up more options in customizing without needing to root.

I intend on getting the Samsung Captivate, so my big concern is simply whether Samsung and AT&T will release 2.3/3.0 for it later on down the line...

As a general rule don't count on updates for any phone. Make sure you do the research and know what bugs the phone has because there's always the chance your going to be stuck with them for a while/permanently.

they defo will sremick but you have to remember that any phone with a custom ui will take longer to update. as it is whit any sense phone. Captivate has TouchWiz which is a pretty intrusive ui from what i can tell so it may take a while to build and update all that.
I think ginger bread will come to all phones. if not all then anything as fast as droid 1. like anything as fast or faster than 600mhz

I think Gingerbread is 2.5, and it's supposed to have a kick-ass UI so HTC, Samsung, and Motorola will shut the hell up about BLUR, Sense, and TouchWiz and leave stock Android on most/all phones so they get updates more quickly, remote app installs from the Market website, and native browsing of remote music (on your PC)
