3,000,000 Miles

46 years on a single car with almost 3 million miles, WITHOUT a single accident totalling his car? That's the ultimate achievement IMO. How he avoided all the idiots on the road is truly amazing. Props to this guy :thumb:

I have an ‘08 Subaru, already passed 150 thousand miles. I keep thinking I gotta get rid of this overdriven beast, never mind that Subies are known for racking up miles. Then I see that a car, that any car can go 3 million miles... maybe I should relax.

Just sent this to a co-worker that drives Volvos since he is a Swede himself. He immediately told me that he had met him just a few years ago in California.

Small World

I currently have a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird that i bought in 2003 and it have over 100,000 + miles but the odometer stop working a couple years ago. Right now it needs a fuel pump so I haven't drove it any this year.

We had a 75 Opel Manta that had between 250,000 and 300,000 miles on it. We bought it in 1978 used, and kept it running till 2010.

I had a '95 Buick regal that was haunted. The car main turn thing that keeps the car running stopped spinning but the car still ran. The mechanic said it shouldn't have even turned over. then there was those times where it would idle at 5RPMs and peel out at every stop light....I miss that beast of a car.

Factoring gas you would have to take in consideration the cost of gas over the years, in 1966 gas was not 3.00 ;)

reminds me of something my dad use to tell me about when he worked at a gas station in the 60s.. Some guy pulled up in his car and told my dad "Put 5 in it" as the guy walked into the station. So doing what he was told my dad proceded to attempt to put 5$ worth of gas into the car. The owner of the vehicle came out and my dad told him he tried getting 5$ but the most he was able to get was 3$, the man then said "are you crazy? There will never be a car that can hold 5$ worth of gas, I meant 5 gallons!" ... boy was that guy wrong haha :D

Also Volvos did not get 30mpg in 1966 (they were good but almost nothing got 30mpg)

Speaking of prices, I back around 1970 I carried change to gas up my motorcycle because it was always under a dollar.
