Help 3-digit numbers in the setting bar in Camera/Video Mode?

Hi all,

What are the little 3-digit numbers on the top of the settings bar in camera mode? You can see them at :35 seconds and :40 seconds of the youtube video review below. In this video they are "256" and "254", located right after the settings and microphone icon. I have NO CLUE what these are, and I've seen them only once on my phone a few days ago; and never before, or since then. It's baffling me.

Thank you!

...I should add, the people at Verizon had no idea, nor did the Samsung Tech Support person I spoke to on the phone.

Hopefully someone here knows.

Patience my friend:) It's only been 5 hours and perhaps the right person who knows the answer hasn't seen this thread;)
Let me look around and see what I can find :)

Edit: I have the same thing on my camera mode. I managed to screenshot them; mine are 4 digits:
Sorry about the landscape mode one.

Still investigating though as this piques my curiousity also :)

Actually, those appear different, almost like they are a "picture count" or something? Did you take seven thousand pictures? lol (or perhaps pictures remaining?)

I found yet another video that shows this....pause it on the :55 second mark to see. This time, it shows "204", which is what I had.

It's official, NO ONE knows....I just spoke to another Tech Rep and they had no clue what it could be. lol

You're a genius if you could solve this one folks!

Well, you sir, have put a splinter in my finger, so-to-speak to find the answer. :D
I've been searching here and there since you posted and haven't come up with anything...

Let me ping others for help :)

Thank you!

Like I said, the above videos show clearly what I'm referring to.
Some of my amatuer guesses included:

- microphone volume (but my mic is off)
- storage availability?
- perhaps some connection to the friend's wifi I was connected to? (but all my "Share" functions are always set to OFF, and I've never seen that in all the time I've owned an S4)

Dunno :/

Well, I think I may have a possible solution thanks to @Kaat72 for her input :D
We think it may be the remaining memory size on the internal, or external destination (dependant on where you assigned the pix or video to store to).

Copy of my back-and-forth with her:
Well, I looked at my camera again. The numbers on mine are at 24915 at 1920x1080 resolution.
I changed my resolution to 1280x960, and the numbers went up to 42045.
Changed resolution back to 1920 x 1080, and the number dropped back to 24915.

Edit: just noticed, the numbers changed also when using the front or rear camera.

She had taken alot of photos with her device on a trip and hers went to zero when her memory was full.

So we believe it is a number for the remaining memory. :D

Hope that helps, and if someone knows for sure, please chime in, but that's the best I could come up with. :)

Really appreciate the help.

However, the question still remains: How come after over a year of usage of this phone, and the camera/video function, did this number only pop up that ONE time last week, and yet I still can't re-create it again?

I've toggled every single thing on/off, and I can't get a number to show there (like in those videos)

....don't think it had anything to do with being signed into my friends router, right? Since my save destination is always "my phone" and no where else. (that can't change on it's own I don't think)

aaaaah, so with the insight you provided, I think I figured out the final piece of the puzzle.

Not long after that number appeared, I had deleted a folder on my phone (not card, but phone) that had a TON of HD videos on it. I believe that freeing up all that space is why I can no longer get that "204" to appear.

Those digits were probably telling me that I was nearing the limit of my internal memory storage for THAT resolution I was about to take a video with. Does this sound right?

Makes sense now. Anyway, thanks for all your help Mike & Kaat72

No, it doesn't....which is what confused me so much, the "not being able to make it appear again" aspect of it all.
But I'm also not anywhere near the full capacity I might have been near.

I dunno. lol. This is just me trying to make sense of this all.

At one point, I was reaching as far as thinking that since was linked to their WiFi, perhaps that was reflective of their devices.... But I don't have my phone, or theirs, set up to share data like that.... So it couldn't be.
