Help 3G at 2100mhz

Hello to all!

I own a Samsung Exhibit II 4G bought prepaid from T-Mobile and unlocked to be used on any carrier. I'm currently using it on the TIM Brazil 3G network, which uses 2100mhz as the 3G frequency. The hardware specs list this frequency as supported for 3G, but unfortunately it seems to be restricted somehow by the baseband and connects only at 1800mhz EDGE on my carrier. This has been reported by other users trying to get 3G speeds on European networks that also use UMTS 2100mhz.

It's running the Peach Sunrise ROM and I've also tried the RebelROM. Both with the same results. The service menu can be accessed but all frequency settings are ignored.

Do you know of any workaround for this issue?

Would it be possible to port the baseband from another phone to the T679 ROM?

Anyone using this phone on a 2100mhz 3G network?

Cheers!

I am in Japan right now for my first trip since owning this exhibit 2 phone. Japan uses 2100 UTMS and the Exhibit 2 specs say that it has that. Unfortunately, I cannot connect to anything over here, cell signal or data. It is very disappointing. So far, I have gotten zero help from T-mobile.

I wish I could help. All I can do is commiserate, unfortunately.

Don't mean to ressurect an old thread but on the exhibit2 if you go to the dial pad and type

*#*#197328640#*#* it will shoot you into a tech screen.

Select Debug Screen

Then phone control

Network Control

Band Selection

Wcdma band

then you can select 2100.

*Use the menu button on the bottom left to bring up more options if you click the wrong one and need to go back

** Also if youre in the states select wcdma 1700 it will lock it onto only 4g provided you can get at least one bar.

I have to do this all the time because I live on the edge of a 4g area and will get edge 80% of the time. I lock it onto 4g until I use all of my data then put it back on automatic
